Jodi is the author of several critically acclaimed books for young people, including the Thirteen Witches trilogy, Tiger Lily, and the May Bird and the Ever After trilogy. She began her career as an editor at HarperCollins, has taught fiction writing for the Great Smoky Mountains Writing Program at UNC Asheville, and holds an MFA from Bennington College.
Some of Jodi’s novels have won awards and been bestsellers, others have disappeared into dusty corners of bookstores, and some have been optioned for movies and TV. Long ago, there was a worldwide hit movie about her pants. Jodi’s stories center on ghosts seen or only sensed, woods that watch and wait, and the instinctive sense that there is more to the natural world than meets the eye. Her heroes include just about every librarian everywhere, and Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Occasionally readers write to Jodi and ask if she’s okay, tragically ill, or a recluse, but turns out she just doesn’t do social media. Maybe she should. Jodi lives in Senegal, West Africa, with her husband, two children, and a dog who is old but still peppy. Thanks for visiting!
