I grew up moving all over the world (my dad's work took us to places like Hong Kong and Singapore), but my childhood home is a lake town in northern New Jersey where I spent way too much time walking in the woods with my cat, watching the clouds, and making things up. I've loved writing and reading about strange and mythical things since I can remember.
I began my career as a book editor in NYC before starting to write full-time in various nooks and crannies. These days I spend most of my time in Asheville, NC, where I live with my husband, our melodramatic dog, and our young son. I studied British Literature at the University of Maryland and hold an MFA in Writing and Literature from Bennington College. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was about my pants (true story).
I read all the time, sometimes while walking or chasing my toddler. Right now I'm really into Isabel Wilkerson. In my free time I also love to cook, knit, hike, camp, make claymation videos for my friends, and attempt to play the banjo. I don't do social media much, mostly because I'm 50% recluse while also having the tech-savvy of someone born in 1910. But I love hearing from you.
